Hi fellow enthusiasts. I'm Bruce form northern GA (Chattanooga area). Bought an 04 X-type sport model manual trans about a month ago. Simply love it so far, nothing else like it in the area. Did a lot of online searching for BMW 3 series, Audi A-4s and the like. Located only 2 manual x types within 200 miles. Saw the one I bought for sale online in Cookeville TN and bought it immediately, got a great deal on it! The only aspect I would improve so far is the gearing. I think is needs a sixth gear or taller overdrive 5th. Does anyone have experience with changing transmission ratios or know of a 6 speed that will drop in? There seems to be ample units available on the second hand market. I won't consider any swap until the clutch needs replacing. Thanks.

Hello & welcome , nice to see you here . When I first got my Manual X I too thought it needed a 6th gear . I soon got used to it & it now no longer worries me ....
