Good morning, everyone! I just took deliverey of a beautiful 1987 XJ-S equipped with the V12 engine on Wednesday night! I have wanted a V12 Jaguar for a very very long time, and now my dream has come true! I am planning on making this a nice driver, and do a little touring with it, and perhaps enter into a few cars shows. I have previously posted a few things as I researched this purchase, and have been helped out by many friendly members! I am sure I will have a million more questions as I go along. My background with British cars goes way back to around 1971 when I graduated high school! I have owned: MG Midget, MGBGT, TR4, TR4A, TR250. I also have owned three aircraft in the past 30 years, all of this will provide me (I hope) with a good mental approach to owning a Jaguar! I am not in a position to take the car to a repair shop unless I am absolutely stuck. I am handy with a wrench, and willing to get my hands dirty.... The trick is knowing what needs to be done!!
I look forward to being a member of this community, and to Jaguar ownership in general!
Warm regards,
John First morning with "Stella" in Florida! Made room in the garage for my baby, my wife says I MAY NOT now call it "The Cat House"
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region.
That's a nice looking XJS! I had a 5.3 v12 XJS myself back in 2002 and absolutely loved it! Just watch out for that steering fault, they tend to turn sharply when passing a gas station!
You'd probably get on well with my Father-in-law, he's a Yorkshireman but lives in Florida with his wife who is originally from Michigan, he has an XKR now, but once upon a time, he imported MG Midgets and B Roadsters from California into the UK, then converted them to RHD and sold them on, the originals were all rusting here in the UK with our awful weather and salt on the roads in winter, so he realised he could import them from California rust free, then strip out the steering column, dash board, pedal box etc. from the rotten UK cars and sell someone a mint MG... always was an entrepreneur
Just a quick update for all my friends:
Things have been going fairly smoothly (in most part due to Greg, Grant and all the other Gurus here), until I found the car in a puddle of coolant a few weeks ago. It seems the water pump is leaking, and so I ordered a new one from Moss Motors. It has been on the shelf in my garage, waiting for the heat to subside! When I pulled the radiator, I found an excellent shop that has been family owned and run since 1922, with some Jaguar radiator experience. The radiator is now being re-cored, and upgraded to a 14 fin configuration, so it will be better than new. A bit spendy, but sure a lot of peace of mind... Now I can dive down into the water pump with that radiator out of the way! I will be replacing all the cooling hoses while I am in there, those have also been sitting on my garage shelf for a bit. Replacing Yellow Fan of Death, too! New thermostats that Greg recommended, and I should be in good shape!
P.S. I assume I need to get everything back together and running with no leaks before I get my Badge of Honour??
John
