Default New XJ VDP Owner...Delaware

Hello All,
My name is Tim and I am enjoying the threads in the forums here In fact, I find myself spending waaaaay too much time here already.

I am 43 and wanted a nice 4 door because my daughter is frowing to be tall and I wanted something she would be comfortable in. I recently purchased a 2004 XJ VDP (as I have wanted a Jag since I was 10 years old).

I found a one owner, 62k vehicle and found the phone number to the original owner in the manual, providing me the opportunity to call him and discuss the car's history prior to making the purchase. This car is clean and well pampered with a clean carfax. Everything works like new (knock on wood) and I am really enjoying the smooth ride and acceleration.

It is nice to have a V8 under the hood that purrs, and the air ride and lack of cabin noise (I recently came out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee) is nothing short of fantastic. I am already spoiled! I put American Racing chrome rims on it (kept to the 18") and new tires, along with an alignment.

I am going to replace the rotors and have the brake calipers powdercoated in red, which should look nice against the chrome rims and the blue body. I am planning to put RedStuff pads on there to keep the brake dust to a minimum without sacrificing quality.

I also had to purchase newfloor mats and an extra key which cost a pretty penny, but were needed.

I am happy to find so many enthusiasts here in the forums who also enjoy what I find to be the most elegant cars on the road! I expect I will continue to put a lot of time into reading the threads and soaking in all the pictures here.

Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself and happy motoring!

Welcome to the forum Tim,

Congratulations on the VdP.

As you've already spent a lot of time reading here, you probably already know the way to the tech section but if not, follow this link XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X350 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You may also like to visit the US Mid Atlantic Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/m...a-dc-de-wv-65/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Funny, Delaware really is a small state. That probably was me. I am in Newark but work in New Castle. Give a shout out if you see me again...
Cheers!

Hi Calvin...Pepsi Blue is a good way to describe it (although I am more of a Coca Cola fan myself). I recently put chrome 5 spoke American Racing rims on it. I do see a 2005 VdP in Old New Castle in black. The Jags are so nice...you see lots of Mercedes, BMW's and Audi's around here, but our cats definately turn heads!
