Just found this forum, I made a deal on my first Jag yesterday, and I'm picking it up tomorrow. It's a red '89 XJS convertible, and I'm super excited! I was looking for a new car for my 10 minute commute, and it was down to the Jag or a '99 Corolla with 20,000 more miles for the same price, so of course I went for the Jag. My girlfriend tried to convince me that the Toyota was a more sensible choice, but I told her you can't show a man a steak and then ask him to get excited about a slice of white bread.

I am not a "gearhead" at all, never even changed my own oil, and I've never had a car that was at all exciting, so I'm really looking forward to the joys of Jaguar ownership and getting to know this online community.

I have to agree with you, if all you have is a 10min commute, then practicality goes out the window, and enjoyment comes in.
