New XK Owner - first Jag
'Morning All.
Just bought my first Jag - a 2008 XK 4.2 convertible, ostensibly for the wife, who feels a mid-life-crisis coming on but I'll be pinching it whenever I can!
We Live in Dubai, where I work as an Air Traffic Controller when not working on my project car - a 1971 Jensen Interceptor mk II which I'm in the middle of rebuilding - it's currently completely dismantled while I finish off the bodywork, prior to rebuilding. My daily driver is an Audi A8L W12 (couldn't afford to run it anywhere else but here) which I bought a year ago and have recently been "fettling" such things as air suspension and brakes - not to mention the inevitable electrical gremlins.
I've been hankering after an XJS convertible for a while now and hope to buy and restore one when I'm finished with the Jensen - should make for a nice couple of everyday cars to alternate between!
I was very surprised when the wife reacted favourably to my suggestion of replacing her V6 Touareg with an XK convertible and after a bit of searching, found a fully specced 2008 car with only 53000 KMs on it that has been impeccably maintained. The plan now is that this car will be a "keeper" - even if and when she tires of driving it, I won't!
I plan on looking after as much as possible myself - even the "agency technicians" here are often completely clueless and more or less incompetent - their only function is to see how much of the client's cash they can purloin! Haven't been to see the Jag ones yet but can't say I'm too hopeful. Will be ordering a cable so that I can see what the car's up to (any recommendations) and adjust as necessary but hopefully won't have much to do for a while - last service was last week!

Thanks all for the welcome (and Jim for the upgrade - wish I could figure out how to add the Saltires to MY sig!) - I plan on keeping this car long-term so it's good to know there's backup out there!
As for the Jensen, here's a taster -
the full details of the rebuild are on the here Jensen rebuild
