New XK8 member
I bought a 1996 XK8 convertible a couple of months ago. This is my 7th Jaguar - previously owned 1958 Mark 1,1981 XJ6 ser.111, 1994 X300, 1989 XJS 3.6 L 6 cyl., 1994 XJS 4.0 L 6 cyl., 1991 XJS 5.3 L convertible.
This is a great car in great condition. I live on Sunshine Coast, SE Queensland, Australia (a bit like Florida with hills) and there are lots of opportunities for top-down motoring.

I can see you have already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I have been here 26 years and yet to find the bit that is like Florida. But the hills are great for bikes and igniting Jaguars.
