Default New XK8 Owner intro

Hi everyone,
Just a quick introduction.
My name is Lee and I have recently bought a 2005 XK8 coupe in black with 87k on clock.
Fantastic car. Few jobs done already and some more to do but you don't buy a used Jag without expecting to do some work.
I am based in North Wales and look forward to meeting up with people and hopefully sharing some of my experiences.

welcome to the forum

Check out the XK8/XKR section for a ton if info, how-to's etc - pplenty of inf and support.

recommend adding a signature including model and year - so techs can accurately assist with any questions - go to the USER CP in the upper left, click the link and follow steps to add sig - you ca include a pic but there are size limitations for signature pics

Enjoy

Default Thanks

Thanks everyone.
Hopefully my signature and picture should be on now.
Few niggles with her
1) Passenger sunvisor doesn't work-I can fix this. Too expensive new
2) Passenger seat and powerfold mirrors not working-couple of tracks broken in seat module
3) Reverse sensor not working-I have replaced
4) Bulbs gone on dash. I have replaced these.
5) Whoomp noise when downshifting hard- suspect it is the A/T fluid needing changing.
6) Condensation in headlamps. I know there is a TSB for this.
7) Headrests not working. Not too worried about this but know there is a TSB to fix.
Will get 5 and 6 done when in garage next.
No-one said it was easy.

Your Signature and SigPic both looking good.

The only item on your list not to be delayed is the transmission. The symptoms you describe certainly sounds like it's ready for a fluid change.

With the headlamps, even following the TSB and fitting the vent pipe, they will still get condensation in them. Jaguar never successfully resolved this issue.

Great. Just the one that will cost me a fortune then!
Been quoted £500 using Jag fluid from an independent including sump and filter change. Is this reasonable?
Still, didn't buy her so that I could save money.

ZF Lifeguard Transmission Fluid is gold in both colour and cost. The cheapest kit I can find at the moment is:

JAGUAR ZF 6HP26 AUTO TRANSMISSION GEARBOX FLUID SERVICE KIT - DA6085 | eBay

Several members have done their own fluid changes. It's not a straightforward drain and fill. The new fluid must be added within a specific running temperature range.

Check this video to see whether you think the £500 quoted is unreasonable:
