Default Newbi 98 XK8 Convertible

Been lurking for a month or so, thought I’d sign up…

I’m in NW Ohio & Mid lower Michigan, this is what I’m working on…
My 87 year old father is a car horder, he has over 100! Probably 1/2 a dozen Jaguars…
Some of them even run, LOL…
He bought this one 10 years ago, it has been sitting outside & I’m trying to clean/fix it up…
I’m putting a new roof on it…

This is just a test fitting, no glue yet…
Maybe I should have done the top on my Miata first, would have been much easier…
I’ve been trying to get the smell out of it, no luck so far, also messing with the seat modules with some success… I’ve learned a lot so far lurking & would like to learn more from you all as I get deeper into it…
Since I have to post several times I’ll stop here for now, it’s dinner time…

Welcome to the forums DYI JAG XK8,

The Ohio climate must be a lot kinder to metal than England. The XK8 would have rusted away if left outside over here for ten years.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Xk8!
Car doesn't look bad for sitting outside in Ohio for 10 years!
You've done a job cleaning it up so well.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
