Default Newbie - 2000 S-type

Hello from NC. New to the forum and Jag family. The car had been sitting in a coworker's garage for a year and the interior and exterior were in pretty good condition, so I took it off her hands. After having the old fuel drained and new fuel added, it was discovered that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The FP was replaced, but there is white smoke coming from the exhaust. The mechanic is not certain what's causing it. Any suggestions??

Welcome to the forums mekmo21,

White smoke is usually coolant. Anything in the reason for it sitting in the garage for a year that would indicate a possible cylinder head issue?

My coworker's son opted to drive his girlfriend's car instead. Things we do for love, huh?? Before that decision, I was told it was riding smoothly and only had a 'loud' sound, possibly from the muffler and needed a new tire? Thanks for the tips and links!

Hello,
If your mechanic doesn't recognize "white smoke" as a coolant leak into the combustion cylinder then you need a better qualified mechanic.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

ElinorB, you may be right. I've never read so much about coolant leaks and the color of smoke before this forum. :-)
