Default Newbie from Charlotte, NC

First, the name Captfred is legitimate. I'm a licensed 100 ton master "boat driver", but that's not important.

I'm currently driving my 6th Jag, an XF. Previous was 2 XJs, 2 S-Types, and 1 XK. I've already decided on the 7th!! The new F-type is awesome. I'd post a picture of me in it but I don't have those rights yet. (or don't know how).

Over Valentine's weekend I attend the Performance Driving Academy in Austin TX at the Circuit of the Americas. (F1 Track). It was fantastic! I know all 20 turns intimately. The first thing they told us was:

1. Don't try to impress us, you can't.
2. Don't try to scare us, we already are.

I accomplished both. #2 was in Austin doing 143 and a late brake into turn 12. I still hit my mark perfectly.

I accomplished #1 two weeks later at the Charlotte Alive event (same drivers, same cars) when I performed a perfect drift around a 180 degree corner that Roberto Guerrero said, "that was amazing". I looked over and said, "it ought to be, you taught me that two weeks ago"

Many great shots and videos but I have no idea how to share.

Welcome to the forum. That's a great story and sounds a lot like others who have done the driving academy. I hope to do that myself some day.

There's a friendly community here and be sure to checkout the XF section: XF and XFR ( X250 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
