Newbie in Essex, UK with 1995 Double Six
Hi everyone. I have just joined up to read up a bit more about these cars and get involved in the forum community now that I am an owner. I live in Essex in the UK and this is my first English-built car. The car is a 1995 Daimler Double Six and is on 117,000 miles. I have owned the car a couple of weeks and have already done some small maintenance tasks to get it up to 100% - things like fixing the cup holders, getting the low tone horn working again, recolouring the leather on the driver's seat, etc.
Here is a picture of the car as it arrived home from purchase:

Hi there,
That is a gorgeous looking example you have got there - congratulations on your purchase.
Welcome to JaguarForums - where you will find the friendliest bunch of Jaguar fans you will find anywhere.
If I could give you some pointers to help you get started on here - it's worth going to the User CP button sat the top l;eft of any page here and updating your signature - it will save you stackloads of typing on here if it lists your car model, year, trim level etc etc.
It is well worth you having a look in the UK specific area on here which is UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum where you will find repairers and parts suppliers as recommended by the members here, info specific to the UK & Eire, and a list of up and coming events. Events are usually free, suitable for families or petrolheads, and a fantastic chance to meet the other members and put names to faces and cars. It is well worth attending them.. there is an up and coming convoy and meet currently which you may want to come along to.. so have a look in the UK area and see if it interests you :-)
As for your car itself we have sections specific to models here and I think the area that is for your car is :- XJ ( X305 ) XJ12 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum but if not just head into the correct area :-)
You are very welcome to work thorough the info on here, and anything you don't see listed you can always pop a post up and be sure of getting a response to help you along the way..
I hope you enjoy your time on here, and maybe attend one of our meetings - there will be a lot of members who would love to see your car in the flesh.

Welcome to the forum v12d6,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
That's a rare and desirable beast!
Follow Steve's link in post #2 to the X305 forum for help, advice and information. The X300 forum XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum will also be useful for everything but the powertrain. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forums.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have hopefully now set up the signature correctly. I was thinking my car was an X300 series but now see the link so have already learnt something new in that the 12 cylinder models would actually have the designation X305!?!
I'll certainly have a look through the recommended suppliers, etc. At the moment the only thing I really want to buy is some new mats. A few years ago a friend asked me to look after his X308 LWB for six months and the thing that set it off for me were the luxury mats that were in it and I think that my car really deserves the same. The dealer just threw in some mats which are not for the car and only about half the size of the rear footwells but they are protecting the carpet somewhat and will suffice until I can source something more appropriate! Other than that I have been able to sort out most of the niggles with a bit of DIY (replacing the odd bulb, etc.) so don't have a big 'shopping list' at the moment.

Signature changes appear with the next post and not immediately. This catches out many members!
OE Jaguar mats have long been unavailable. Autostyle can supply the equivalent in carpet with bound edges to the correct pattern:
Sheepskin car mats and lambswool Car Mats, Autostyle Individually Tailored Car Mats
They also do lambswool over mats as used to be fitted in the Daimler Vanden Plas specification models.

The only Jaguar/Daimler I've had them in was Series 1 Daimler Vanden Plas back in 1978 which had the OE lambswool overmats fitted. Very comfortable for the passengers but I didn't like using the driver's one. It tended to creep forwards and under the pedals.
If the modern aftermarket ones have press studs on the back like RR and Bentley, this shouldn't be an issue.
