Default Newbie Jaguar xj8 x308 owner

Hi all!

Glad to be a part of this forum.

I only recently purchased a jaguar xj8 x308 as my first official car (been driving a Toyota Yaris for the past year, so this is a bit of a step up!)

And definitely enjoy working on problems myself, and the treasure trove of information is here is incredibly valuable.
Got off easy at the low end cost wise, at £1900. This was largely due to the car having around 170,000 miles, so whether I made a msitake or not remains to be seen, nevertheless I love the car so far and have very minimal regrets.

Welcome to the forums XJ8Newbie,

I've never worried about high miles on a Jaguar and put both my XJ40 and X300 over 150K miles. Regularly used examples of all models are usually more reliable than the weekend specials!

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome to the Forums.

I agree with Graham, well used and maintained Jaguars are much easier to live with than the Garage Queens.

Good luck.

Hello,
Well I hope to shout an XJ8 is a step up from a (shudder) Yaris!!
It looks like you got quite a Lot of car for not a lot of money too. BONUS!
You might decide this particular Jag isn't for you for one reason or another, but once you get Cat Scratch Fever you're hooked for Life!
Even if the Next One (Jaguar) doesn't become your Daily Driver, from now on you'll always want one in your garage. Many of us here can tell you how we know that.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Well, its certainly a lot more stylish, luxurious and powerful. However, there are also big steps up at the repair shop, the parts counter, the gas pump, the insurance agent.......

But like Elinor says, its too late now. Once you've experienced the X308, you won't be able to tolerate a Yaris ever again.

Yeah the costs are definitely going to pile up I feel but suddenly I feel like it's a car I don't mind putting money into, it's just too damn beautiful!
