Default newbie from liverpool U.K.

hi everyone, look forward to being an active member of the site.
had my 2.1 AUTO 2003 X-TYPE SPORT for 3 weeks now.love the car. few little annoyances that are being sorted but overall happy.
my biggest bugbear is the 17 miles per gallon of petrol i'm currently getting.
not so much a problem for you fellas over there(gas prices).
over and out.....lee

Welcome, are you a dead foot ? lol
Actually, I am also getting approximately 13lt/100 km city driving with Cruze , go figure that's just 4 cylinder and 1.6 lt engine lol
Driving habits really affect badly or efficiently fuel consumption

thanks jim, and all people who replied.
i'm sure jaguar quote only 19 mpg for extra urban which is what i do.
i don't drive it too crazily to be honest but it is temtping to floor it every now and again with the kickdown roar of that lovely engine.
do you think a call to one of them mobile engine tuners would be beneficial?...lee

Welcome Lee,

I agree with the others, 17 seems too low especially with big UK gallons.

Hey Lee, post it up in the X type section mate...this is only the welcome area and it won't get viewed and as many replies here.

Probably, you're going to have to check the basics first ( air filter, plugs etc, possibly check the egr and maf ) and go from there I'd say, but some of the X type guys will advise you in more detail for sure
