Newbie - Looking for a Jag Estate
Hello everyone,
New to this forum and Jags. Joined because I'm in the process of looking for my first Jag. I'm after a used X-type diesel estate, so are shopping around locally (N-W UK) for a good deal. It will be a work horse as much as my pride and joy.
Does anyone have comments on the various model ranges (Classic/S/Sport/SE) and is it worth spending the extra cash on the higher models - are the extras worth chasing? For example, I like the idea of climate control over manual aircon, but does it make a significant difference worth the investment, or are they just gimmicks? Also, is there any major difference between the X-type 'S' and Sports model, they look similar on the manufacturer's brouchure.
Cheers,
Andy.

Hi and welcome
I'm fairly new as well and have an 04 3.0 X-Estate Sport. The sport simply is stiffer suspension and 18" wheels as well as additional side bolstering in the seats. I also have the 'premium' package which adds some options like climate control, heated seats and mirrors and wind screen and the hotrod stereo.
If you do a search in this section you'll read all about my woes with my car although I doubt it's representative. As for the car itself I really enjoy it. We got a bit of snow in early December here and the car drive very well in it. I swapped over to 16" rims with snow tires though because the ZR rated 18" summer tires I would imagine would be hopeless for snow traction. One thing you might consider with a sport package is you feel literally every stone in the road. I notice a much softer ride with the additional sidewall with the 16s. But mine corners like it's on rails with the 18s so it's a trade off.
