Default newbie from NY
Just picked up a 1997 XK8 Roadster.....looking to see what can be done to spice up the motor a tad.Guess I will start looking through old threads.Anyway...I am sure I will enjoy it here.

Hi, best of luck with your new jag. I have had 97 xk8 roadster in BRG since 2000 when it was a dealer select edtion with 25k. It now has about 43k. I would suggest before you modify the engine, to be sure the timing chain tensioners have been checked/replaced. I had mine done at about 36k before they failed. Hopefully, the dealer or previous owner will know the status.

Looks like the first task is the front wheel bearings,drivers side is shot,have a new one coming.........the timing chain tensioners were replaced 40k miles ago.......how often should they be done?
