Default Newbie saying hello

Hi, a new member and new to Jaguar ownership...recently bought a beautiful 1998 XK8 convertible in black with ivory leather to help me recover from a very recent brain haemorrhage which I am lucky to have survived in tact from, in need of some TLC both me and the car!!

I am no mechanic but enthusiastic and very able and willing to learn, learning term love affair with the XK8 genuinely think she is one of the most gorgeous cars ever made..

Not to upset the purists out there but one reason I chose this particular car was that she had previously had an LPG duel full conversion which makes her affordable to run... in the last weeks I have had this conversion serviced, just waiting on a new UK style filler installation then she will go back on the register..

I am sure I will have many questions and need for advice and will try and be clear when I ask... If I can help anyone I will

Remember, everyone here is lucky to be alive, belive me every day is a gift no matter what nonsense is going on in the world..... and after all you most probably are lucky enough to own a Jaguar...Daniel

Welcome to the forums Daniel,

Good to have you with us. Serious having a brain haemorrhage at any time but especially so in the current circumstances.

You're not the first here with an LPG conversion on an XK8 and we have had a few with dual fuel four door model conversions. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome Daniel, im glad you are on the improve and you have a good attitude. I find the idea of LPG conversion intriguing. I might try it but it seems like the tanks usually end up taking up most of the trunk. Good luck, post some pics when you can, wed love to the the adaptation.

Default Both doing well..

Thank you all for your kind comments I am doing remarkably well considering and truly know how lucky I am .... with the big Cat too she does make me smile and like a lot of Brits I get her top off even on the cold dry days..

I am enjoying reading through the posts and information i have a lot to learn, and because of what happened a lot of time on my hands if not masses of energy...

Hope to learn more and will organise some photos as I get a bit more sorted out..

Thanks again for all the support.. D

Default As requested some thoughts and photos of the LPG system

Takes up spare wheel space but not more than that..

Romano management system for LPG

LPG injectors and a dirty engine bay.. lots of work still to do..

Hoping i will be able to get engine covers to fit over the LPG system

Default As requested some thoughts and photos of the LPG system

As requested here are some of my thoughts on the LPG system that was fitted to my XK8 1998 soft top...

Honestly... brilliant... i have done about 1500 Mile's in the last 2 weeks since having the system serviced and I think they have cost me around £120 GBP in fuel... £0.57pence per litre instead of £1.25 and I have a fairly heavy right foot..

Has it affected the performance? I don't know she is still quick through the country lanes for a 23 year old lady and as a GT pounds the highway with real comfort and ease ... with a tune and née exhaust she will only get better and at least I can afford to drive her daily and enjoy her..

The boot is still large enough for a couple of cases the filler discrete ....

So what's not to like I'm a country where 75% of fuel cost is tax...

If there are any specific questions please let me knowninwill try and answer them or find answers as I do more work to clean her up I will take more photos

Again I want to thank the forums and members for all the advice i have had so far, I moving house soon so may be a bit quiet then once settled she is my main project for the summer..
