Newbie from South Texas
Hello all, I just purchased my first Jag!
I have a habit of buying cars that don't run and this was no exception. The car is a 1999 Vanden Plas. It was a repo with no keys that sat for 2 years. I'm actually not even sure if the car runs as I have no way to start it without the keys. I just love the look of the car and had a lot of fun trying to load it on a trailer with the wheels turned and the steering locked.
I did get it cheap enough that I felt confident buying it weather it ran or not. Unfortunately, after getting it home I discovered a few things that look like they may have been sabotaged by the previous owner (apparently they had access to the car after it was repossessed. I think I'm going to part it out if anyone's interested. I will just have to keep an eye open for another similar model for a driver.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll have some questions along the line and unfortunately I have no Jaguar knowledge (other than relocating a jag with no keys, which i did learn a few tricks) to offer in return. I do however have the ability to talk home brewing or cabinet making if anyone wants some off topic banter.
Thanks,
Eric

Welcome to the forum Eric,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
We do get members losing their only key so it's not an unknown issue to have to resolve. Assuming the '1999 Vanden Plas' is an XJ8, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-southwest-az-tx-nm-ok-37/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
