Default Newbie Wife...Because Husband Would Never Join!

Okay...title says it all. My husband browses all sorts of forums and Facebook, but he prefers to be the elusive, stealthy type...never joining or posting in anything. So, here I am. I'm a teacher, and of course, feel knowledge is power, and the only dumb question is the one which isn't asked.

We live in Michigan. My husband owns and drives a semi truck. He is a car/truck enthusiast, and while he isn't a certified mechanic, has tinkered with everything motorized since he was barely a teenager. Snowmobiles, dirt bikes, ATVs, cars, trucks, semis, boats, diesel, and gas. He is the typical motorhead who likes things fast and loud. His most involved engine project was probably swapping a diesel motor for a gas in a Chevy pickup. His most involved body project is a 1995 Ford 1-ton 2WD dually that he lowered to the ground and put on air ride suspension.

We just bought a 2002 X-Type a few weeks ago, after I drove a 6-speed Saab on vacation, and came home missing the feel and gas mileage of a little manual transmission car. (My vehicle of choice for years has been a Ford Expedition, which I'll never give up, since we need the towing ability for boats/ campers, and the 4WD for our snowy winters).

So...car details...2002 X-Type, 151,000 miles, 5-speed, V6 3.0L, silver with black leather. It has a few bugs we are trying to work out, which is why I'm here!

Welcome!

I can relate...I used to browse car forums for hours and never joined. Then in 2010 I joined here because I wanted to answer a classified ad.

Here I am now...over 4400 posts and counting

Welcome to the forum Jen,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

I feel as if I'm being watched. Corey - is that you there?

Follow Norri's link to the X-Type tech section for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Hi Jenandcorey:
Welcome to the forum and greetings from the Midwest Region. You are correct: knowledge is power. I know that belonging to forums such as this one has made Jaguar ownership entirely un-intimidating. So congrats on the new car and for joining.

There are also lots of Michiganders around here, so you're in good company.

All the best and enjoy the drive!
Scott

Thanks, Scott, I must admit, I was intimidated at first. We paid cash for the car, so not an enormous investment, but when my husband noticed the odd lug nuts and headlight bulb (unable to buy at the local "Autozone," and dealer is 3+ hours away), I thought, "Oh no...what did we do???" I was relieved to find this forum!
