Newby Mike Wood 2001 XK8 X100 convertible
Hi All,
Just joined the forum, I normally don't do social media but I consider this different. My car history is varied and awful < I once owned a TR7 for a few years as it dissolved into brown dust. I have owned the XK8 X100 since 2012, I also help a friend with his 2002 XKR X100. My victories include welding up all the front areas behind the front cross member and then changing out all the bushings and pivots, and mountings. I also made the sill(rocker panel) ends and again welded them, not rocket science but pleasing for a part timer/ novice. I look forward to picking your brains and helping where I have some useful info to share.
Regards
Mike

I don't do social media at all. This is very different.
Not surprised you've found the welder more useful than the random orbital polisher when it comes to Jaguar preservation in England. Fortunately costs are now discouraging Local Authorities and Highways Agency from blanketing the roads with salt for six months of the year but in many instances, the damage has already been done and the consequences are still evident. You may find threads by RaceDiagnostics interesting. Here's an example:

Jim has been fighting (and winning) the XK8 rust battle for several years and done some outstanding repairs.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.

Hello, Mike,
I wouldn't call this "Social Media." Most of our members have a much firmer grasp of what's real and what's not.
Your repair history is impressive. Welding ability (or having a friend who welds) is almost a Must when owning an Elderly Jag.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
