Default Novice seeking advice on newly bought S type

Hello, as stated above, I recently bought a used 2008 jaguar S-type, with 42k on it.. Ive done my research and most transmission problems seem to be with the ealrier models... is there anything I should be on the lookout for?

this has been my dream car for a while.

Well, considering you only have 42k miles on it, I would not be concerned with the transmission. Unless your have been wringing the cars neck, I would not think a transmission fluid and filter change would be necessary until around 60k to 75k miles. And then it really isn't "necessary" unless you feel like the car needs it. Any more miles than that, then you probably should get around to doing it before 100k miles.

You might be having the headlight problem soon, if you haven't already. Brutal's fix is great and several members have posted more elegant versions of his method.

I have a V6, so there are some problems with the V8 I am not familiar with.

You might, MIGHT, want to consider changing the spark plugs. If you were to do that, there are some other things to check and replace while you have the intake manifold off. Like gaskets.

Really, there a so little miles on your car, if there is nothing wrong with it right now, you can probably go for a while with very little maintenance. Oil and filter changes is all I can think of at the moment.

As a friend has told me, "Don't worry about the car, just enjoy it." And you will. I love mine.

Thanks for the info, I have a 3.0 as well. The dealer's mechanic changed the oil right before i got it. And he recommended a K&N filter. which model do you recommend?

Also I was thinking about getting a suicide door kit installed on the car, would that be too gaudy?

Just out of curiosity, what oil change interval did he recommend?

Doesn't matter what we think. Some people still think that Lambo doors are cool.

A famous quote: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Seriously, just save the money and enjoy the car.

If you really want to spend the money on something, buy a motorcycle.

Chicks dig cool guys on bikes. (not skwidz on rockets, nor bad-asses on hawgs)
