Lightbulb OKC Jaguar XK8 Convertible

I have wanted to own a Jaguar since college. There was a professor there that had a Jaguar XKE that was certainly the best looking car that I had ever since. The closest that I got to such a nice sports car was my 1972 Corvette Coupe 4-Speed Stick Ontario Orange. I sold it a few years ago.

Now I am looking seriously at a 2005 Jaguar XK8 convertible Black/Black. It is priced at over $15,000, is described as like new with all the accessories and 70,870 miles. I will talk to the seller tomorrow about reducing his asking price.

For the last several hours I have been watching Youtube videos on this fine car, especially John's videos on his
To The Garage account.

Hello,
Those who claim to know tell me the XK8 is the reincarnation of the XKE. I only know for sure that an XK8 will be my Next Jaguar.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Roverto,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

I'm scheduled to go see the 2005 Jaguar XK8 convertible Black/Black this afternoon. I spoke with the seller late last night. I am very encouraged about getting this car very soon.

I saw the 2005 Jaguar XK8 for the first time yesterday and got to drive. it. I am 6 foot 3 and over 300 lbs. and was afraid that I would not fit in it. Well, I felt very comfortable in it. It is much easier to get into and out of than my 1972 Corvette Stingray Coupe.

I decided to buy it yesterday and signed an agreement to do so with a $300 downpayment. The title was signed over to my wife and myself this morning and I drove it home.

For a 14-year-old car it appears almost new.

The seller was very gracious to me in his transfer of his car to me and helping me understand the needs of the car.

JAGUAR XK8 & XKR LOWER MESH GRILLE (ONLY 2005-2006 MODELS)

https://www.minagallery.com/jaguar-x...5-2006-models/

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Lower mesh grille for Jaguar 05-06 XK8/R .

This Mina Gallery exclusive beautiful stainless steel woven mesh insert is specifically designed for the 05-06 XK8/R models. This unique upgrade is sure to give your XK a delicate touch of sportive style. The shine and stone resistant brilliance of this T316 stainless steel unit is sure to turn heads.

Our T316 stainless steel mesh grilles are polished to a high mirror finish. Unlike cheaper chrome plated imitations, this item will not chip, discolor, or rust.

*** Kit installs in minutes and does not require cutting, drilling, or removing the bumper cover.

The fact that there is no requirement to cut, drill or remove the bumper cover is very appealing to me.

Is there any good reason for me not to put this accessory on my car?

How rare are the 2005 Jaguar XK8 Apollo 19" wheels?

There were 1,687 2005 Jaguar XK8 Convertibles manufactured. The least number of any year in the 10 years of major production.

Good to hear the deal worked out and you are now a Jaguar OWNER. I had a Final Series XK8 4.2-S Coupe which was a superb and reliable car. Although I love the design, I never go for convertibles myself because we just don't have the weather for them.

You should ask questions in XK8/XKR forum rather than here in your Intro thread. Many members read the Intros and there's always several replies but few members come back to an Intro once they've read it.

Well, I got the bug real bad. I just purchased my second Jaguar tonight. It's a 2007 Jaguar XJ8, Vanden Pla, Porcelain [White] / Ivory/Mocha. It has 33,500 miles on it and it is mint condition. The seller's asking price was $15,999. I got him to come down a little. There were 11 cars that I looked at closely. They all were in the 2006 to 2009 range. I eliminated the 400 horsepower Super V8s and Portfolios, because I really had no need for that extra power which would have increased the costs of repair. I really thought I wanted another black Jaguar, but the white won out in the end.

RoVerto - great finds on both Jags!!! Just an FYI on the XK8 - in the picture of the engine compartment - you will need to replace the upper shock mounts soon - as evidenced by the crumbling red foam. It's not a bad DIY job and from experience I highly recommend going with Welsh poly replacements vice OEM foam

Enjoy the drive!!!

The 2005 Jaguar XK8 (71,132 mileage) was found 19.1 miles from my home in Moore, Okla. which is located between OKC and Norman, Okla.

The 2007 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas (33,900 mileage)was found 13.6 miles from my home in Edmond, Okla. which is immediately north of OKC.

So, I purchased my first Jaguar 7 days ago. It is a black one. I purchased my second Jaguar yesterday. It is a white one. I think I am through buying Jaguars for a very long time to come. The MSRP for my 2005 and 2007 Jaguars was $149,830. I paid a total of $28,800 for both of them. That is 19% of the MSRP. It was the right time and the right place and the right prices for me to buy these two Jaguars. From the words of Charlton Heston: "I'll give you my two Jaguars when you pry them from my cold, dead hands."
