Older junior member looking for advice
Been reading voraciously (SP?) for a few weeks, am searching for info to enable me to spec my future ride; want a 4-door, limited slip without traction control (firmly believe: if you can't drive it, park it!), outboard rear brakes, will get a road car, with a view to going 350/later V8 in the future, using a jaguarspecialties kit. This is a fascinating forum, lots of info for someone who has been out of performance cars (& wrenching) since the early '70s, so looking for opinions whether to go l6 or V12 for starters, and which suspension swaps/improvements are recommended. Especially important is guidance as to which Jags to avoid.
I still drive it like I stole it.
Happy to be on board.
Just in case it's not attached automatically: OldieRacerGuy.

Welcome aboard.
There are several regulars here who are well versed in V8 conversions.
Do you have a particular year range or series in mind?
A V12 isn't the right choice for everyone. They require some dedication....but for some people there's lots of satisfaction to be gained from running one.
Depending on the level of power/performance you're after you might want to consider one of the XJR sedans. Supercharged, good suspension and brakes, etc
Cheers

Thank you, everyone. I will give a pat on the back to Forum members: in the many (wife says too many!)hours looking for specific info, was quite pleased to see only one post exhibiting a bit of peevishness, so thumbs up to all.
I'm leaning toward a four door '70s/'80s/'90s classic xj classic body style, toward a V12 for the extra room in the engine bay if I lump it (if the engine ever goes), but the final convincer was the totall beauty that recently sold on BAT for $103,000 +/-, it leaves one speechless!
