An Optimistic Lincoln LS Owner
Hi, my name is Frank and I'm from New Jersey. I have a 2002 Lincoln LS V8 Sport that has just spun a bearing and I've joined this forum (after quite a bit of lurking) to try and track down some information to try and make a hybrid 3.9/4.0SC rebuild (not the eco kind of hybrid... not this time around). I will probably just do a stock 3.9 replacement for now to get the car going again, but keep the old engine in the hopes of being able to take my time and take it apart to get specs and check fitment. I'll be heading over to the XJ x308 section for that.
I've seen a number of S-type guys head over to LincolnvsCadillac for knowledge from the LS experts over there, so I'd love to get some knowledge from this side since you guys should know more about the Jaguar engine variants. Worse case scenario, it stays stock but I learn new stuff. I've learned more about spun bearings in the last week than I've learned my entire life.
The LS lived in the city for 10+ years and shows wear and damage, but I can only fix so much, so fast. So far I've dealt with COPs/VCGs, upper front control arms, sway bar bushings, and some audio stuff. I thought the knocking sound was going to be secondary chain tensioners, but I opened up the covers and found either they've been replaced already or I have one of the few, late 02s that were shipped with the updated parts (but they have red plastic slides instead of white, so I'm leaning towards factory-built). Regardless, the car has tremendous sentimental value so I'll be keeping it, even if I stick with a measly 252hp stock engine.
