Hello all. I'm a new member and introducing myself. I am from the United States and live in the state of Arizona.
I recently bought a 2003 Jaguar S-Type, and am a first-time Jaguar owner. I really like and appreciate the vehicle, and want to become more educated in its operations and maintenance.
Although I don't work on vehicles often anymore, I am trying to learn and do more due to the higher cost of everything these days. I would classify myself as perhaps an intermediate "mechanic", as I understand automotive systems fairly well, and (in my younger years) have replaced head gaskets, clutches, brake pads/shoes, and such, in addition to regular basic maintenance activities like changing engine oil and filters. I worked for an automotive parts store in my youth, but that was when systems were just starting to be computerized with onboard computers (ECM, right?), and so I am not as familiar with a lot of the newer sensors and their exact functions. Anyway, I will clarify as I have questions (which will be momentarily since my new Jag has stopped running).
Thanks for the forum and the opportunity to introduce myself.
P.S. - I have to admit, I was planning to just be an occasional visitor/window shopper instead of a member of this forum. But after reading through a thread where a "member" named GeorgiePorgie or something was driving me, the reader, and obviously everyone else quite mad, I read one of the most artful, humorous, yet diplomatically polite posts I may have ever read on a forum, and I immediately recognized the level of knowledge and admirable character quality of the members of this forum. I had no choice but to become a member. So thanks again.

Welcome to the forums Parakypsas,
Good to have you with us. Getting back into some vehicle maintenance is going to save you a lot with a Jaguar. Expertise, both franchised dealer and independent is expensive for these vehicles.
As you've already found your way to the S-Type forum, there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

I didn't realize there was a region forum, as well. That is great.
I have read and will adhere to the guidance, and appreciate your help in getting me to get off on the right foot. I have one quick question on mentions, as I couldn't find directions in the Search feature. In the Your Profile (or About Me) section, there is a Mentions tab. What is the proper way to "mention" another member so that these members can see when I've mentioned them?
Thanks for the warm welcome GGG!
