Hello everybody, i have a question:
I have a 1996 xk8 and am changing the cassette radio for a aftermarket radio usb bluetooth etc. The problem i foresee is that in removing the radio the numerical keypad will also depart as it is all one unit. On refitting the new radio will it work without a code entry and also what will happen come the day that i disconnect the battery for any reason.
Interested to hear your thoughts.

Hello, Paul,
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where members can advise you about that.
I personally don't like radio/stereo in any of my cars as I find the noise quite distracting- I can't hear when stuff goes wrong. I know I'm probably in the minority.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Paul,

Good to have you with us.

The coding in European specification radios is entirely within the headset so replace that and you remove the security coding issue. If you subsequently disconnect the battery, you will still lose other "learned" settings such as the auto window drop.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.

I've added vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. If you want to change these, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
