Planning to be new XKR owner
Hi everyone,
I am currently searching for my next car and am leaning towards a XKR. I have been casually researching vehicles for a while to replace my current "fun car", a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata.

I'm looking for a nice upgrade and with at least small backseats that my 3 and 5 year olds can sit in so that my wife and kids can go for a drive. We have this period of time that the kids won't require the big car seats (use boosters) and before they get too big to fit in a fun coupe backseat. I got to drive a friend's F-Type R in the southern CA canyons and mountains quite a bit the past couple years and loved the car. After driving the F-Type, it became an attainable dream car for me, just wished it had a backseat.

I have a relative that has had his Jaguar XK since he bought it new in the early 2000s and he loves it. After checking it out last year and seeing our kids could potentially fit, I researched more on the XK Series. I test drove a 2015 XK this past weekend with my 5 year old in a small booster sitting behind me. I'm 6' and was able to still sit comfortably with him behind me. After that test drive, I decided to focus my car search on the XK series. I love the beautiful, timeless styling, the powerful v8, and the engaging driving experience. I'm leaning towards the XKR to get more of the exhilarating driving experience I had from the F-Type R. I appreciate all the knowledge and wisdom owners have shared here on the forum as I'm searching and reading through the posts to absorb all the knowledge I can while in my car search process.

Welcome to the forums justinw,
Good to have you with us.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Enjoy the forums and the search for your XK.

I found and purchased my 2012 Jaguar XK Dynamic R with 64k miles a few weeks ago. I love the car, although just two days after a great drive 400+ miles home, some of the injectors stuck open leading to misfires and I had it towed to a local Jaguar specialist. They replaced all 8 injectors, spark plugs, replaced leaking cam covers gaskets, and while at it also had to replace the supercharger gasket and coolant lines. She is running great now and hopefully will continue with regular maintenance. I'm paying attention to the timing chain sound and plan to replace the tensioners and chain before they go bad. I had two mechanics opinions and they say it is fine at this time, just to pay attention to if the chain gets louder.
Modifications/improvements I already made are:
I'm now currently in the process of listing my Miata on Carsandbids.com.
Modifications/improvements I already made are:
- Added the BOVEE1000 bluetooth device to stream from my phone.
- Pulled fuse 19 and am considering adding a wireless switch to change on demand, connected to the garage door opener buttons.
- Reattached the center portion of the Dynamic Pack rear bumper valance/diffuser. The original double sided tape failed. I used a few body trim fasteners and adhesive to re-secure it.
I'm now currently in the process of listing my Miata on Carsandbids.com.
