Hello everyone,
I have been using jaguar forums as a very valuable resource for working on my wife's 2005 XJ8 (Naturally aspired 4.2 L) so I decided to join the forum. First forum that I have every joined. I have read the new member section and it helped to understand how the forum works and most of all proper etiquette. We purchased the XJ8 from CarMax in Atlanta, GA around 02/2010 and it had 50,000 miles on the odometer. The jag now has 117,000 miles is running like brand new.
Repairs and maintenance that I have performed with the help of jaguar forums: Replaced halogen headlights (Important that the tab is at the 12 o'clock position and not the 6), replaced front and rear brake shoes, water pump, upper and lower radiator hose, temperature sensor, expansion tank, ignition coils and plugs. I have attached pictures of my work bench and the XJ8.
I own three other vehicles, 2002 Ram 1500, 2009 Subaru Forester, and a 2002 GMC Sonoma. On the GMC, replaced upper intake manifold gasket, belts, idlers, radiator, hoses, steering gear, tie rods, brake rotors and pads front, oil cooler, water pump, starter, spark plugs, fuel pump, steering hose, alternator, shocks. On the Forester, timing belt, water pump, idlers, belts, hoses, spark plugs. On the Ram, upper and lower ball joints, steering knuckle (was in an accident, youngest son), radiator, steering cooler, high pressure steering hose, tie rods, rotors and brake pads, brake caliper and mounting bracket, control arms, ignition switch, bumper, and spark plugs.
I am a computer scientist by degree so people do not believe that I can turn a wrench, LOL. They look at my hands and comment on how clean they are. I have attached photos of my XJ8 and my little work bench. Not sure if you all can see them. I inserted as image and attached but I do not see them.
Anyway, thank you all for all your valuable knowledge and help.

When I was in college, no one thought I could handle a wrench either! And then, when they wrapped their heads around the classes I was taking (Engines 101 etc.) they kept asking my roommate, "How does she get her hands so clean??" Answer, "She scrubs them." Well, Duh! GoJo to the rescue.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Ray,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
As a Computer Scientist it's unlikely you aren't familiar with the process for inserting images so the issue is probably exceeding the permitted file size limits.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the X350 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link US Lower Atlantic - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
