Smile Room for another retired guy?

Hi folks, Just put a question in about buying a XK and thought I dont want to forget the intro! Well, I started my car addiction when I was a senior in HS. I had a half day half year in 12th, and then went to my job at a Chevy Olds dealer to work in the Body shop. That was 1976. Ended up running that shop for a short time when my Body boss quit. Learned alot there and repainted nearly all my cars afterward. My coupes were a 71 Cutlass Supreme, 79 RS Camaro, CJ5, 2- YJ's, 01 VW diesel, 89 2d Pathfinder, 97 2d Tahoe 6.5, 90 Dodge Stealth among a few others. Right now a 97 Lincoln MK VIII with home mods of 2.5" SS dual exhaust & open airbox mods.
I retired from NYS Corrections after 25 years as a CO and moved to the great state of Tennessee in retirement. I graduated PA Gunsmith school in 79 and worked as a shop Gunsmith for Auto Ordnance 81-83, then had a full service gun shop for 14 years so machining and making small parts is a fun hobby these days. Almost bought a 99 XK8 instead of the Lincoln but was suspicious of some bad feed back on the 4.2 engines back then. The XK has lingered in the back of my mind for a while and with the kids now 27 & 25 years old, Those XK baby back seats are kissin cousins of the Stealth and Camaro of years gone by. My son has taken a shine to the MK VIII so I'm thinking XK 4.2 or 5.0.... just not sure about it and posted my quandary as a first post other than this one. I love my Diesels also and run some equipment exclusive to the old oil hammers being an 06 Dodge lately for trailering.
Well thats about it! I hope I can eventually share in the XK experience and maybe even help some one out with wrenching once I learn the in's n out's of the Jag that is yet to be bought!

Welcome to the forums PSP,

Good to have you with us. You have an ideal skillset and experience for Jaguar ownership.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southern Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...rn-midwest-67/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums and the search for your Jaguar.

Graham

I worked with a nurse at a NYS Correctional Facility that moved to TN with a new husband that was a retiring CO. Coincidence?

If their names are Merri & Mark, I know of them both personally. I worked at Ulster & Eastern . They checked out my area but decided against it. Not sure where they eventually settled.
