Default Route 66 in a.... Jag?

Happy to be a new Midwest member...

A month ago, I flew to Long Beach CA from KCMO and brought my dream car back with me. A buddy of mine and I took four days to drive Route 66 back to Joplin, MO then turned north to KC. Hit a half dozen museums, stayed in dives and ate at diners the whole way. We had a great time!

The pics were taken in Sedona, AZ on the second day of the trip.

It's a 2003 Jaguar XJR-Performace Version in Jaguar Racing Green.

We're uber proud of it - in fact, my wife has named it after a cartoon
charactor - "Sir Hiss...."

Cheers,
-Maxwdg

Welcome aboard. Congratulations on your coupe, you don't see too many in the XKR model, most are the roadster.

Thanks for the good words! Yup, I saw one of these coupes in a ritzy open-air shopping area back in 1998..... I told myself "Someday baby your gonna be mine!" Had to wait 12 years for Jag's notable depreciation to whittle down the price, but now I could buy anything close to her at twice the price. Heh Heh Heh. I'm a third time Jag owner: '95 XJR, 2001 XJR and now my little green mamba!

What I meant to write is -

These days, I COULDN'T buy any close to the looks and performance of an XKR Coupe for twice the price I paid for my new baby!

I should have paid closer attention in english and typing class during High School, huh?

Welcome to the forum maxwdg. You've found the right place. There's plenty of knowledge to be had here for the asking. Saved my tail on more than one occasion. Enjoy your ride!

Did you drive the full route from Santa Monica, CA., or did you cheat? Route 66 is one of the main streets where I live in eastern Los Angeles County.

Welcome to the forum Max sounds like a great trip. I can see the Thai Ping issue but don't let it worry you, content is king around here bad Grandma only gets a prod from time to time.

Nice looking XKR!

It's a nice colour isn't it, that Jaguar Racing Green. My XJ6 saloon is the same colour. Hope you have many miles of motoring with it.

Yeah, we cheated.... A bunch of times. But basically "stayed the course" We found that without a really good (and current) map that shows precisely where Route 66 is today - it can be very easy to get swooped off. Had we another two or three days to dink around - driving what's left of the actual route would have been challenging - but fun!

The GPS Data in my 2003 XKR was Waaaaay! off a few times!

Question regarding my old GPS system: Can I even get a current (2010-2001) update for my rudimentary GPS ???

It appears as though I can not.

Peace,
-Max
