S-type transmission 2003, 4.2 naturally aspirated
I am a new member and am struggling a bit to move around in this program. I posted a new thread yesterday about a problem I have with my transmission. I purchased this just after the previous owner had just had the transmission "completely" rebuilt. When I roll to a stop, the 2-1 shift really has a "clunk" sound. I think it is only in this second to first shift that it makes the noise. Shifting up all the way is smooth and back down to second likewise is normal. Just that 2-1 shift just slams it home. The people that are working on it do seem familiar with this particular transmission. Under Warranty, they are again pulling it to see if something doesn't like right and retest the switching. Their willingness to keep looking is good, but if nothing turns up after this current e3ffort, I think I will be at the end of the line.
So if anyone on this forum might have had some experience with this I sure would appreciate any help.
Thanking you in advance for ANY input.

Welcome to the Forums.
I recall reading this in the S Type Tech Section.
My knowledge of the ZF 6 sped trans is LOW, but down here, the GM, Ford etc cars with the same transmission suffer from:
1) Stale trans fluid, hope NOT in your case.
2) Fluid level too low, very common.
3) Battery is notup to snuff, and that will reek general havoc with these cars.
The S Type members will know, and sometimes answers take a while, as teh planets align, and people get free time to answer.
Good luck.
