Second Saloon Restoration
Greetings,
I was surprized yesterday when my family filled the garage with a stripped and painted 1961 Mark IX. Apparently a chap in Arizona had started, lost interest (opportunity?), sold to a friend in the local Jag Club that had to give it up; and now its mine! Came with R&Red parts in boxes and new bits and pieces. This will be a labor of love. I will be very interested in learning from those of you who have done this job before. The car is Old English Ivory now, but current thinking is to repaint to two-tone Black and Silver (elegant). I am wondering lots of things such as to what to do first? For instance, although mechanicals are all in place and purported to be in running order, these old Borg Warner 3-speed automatics are notorious leakers. Anybody know what modern trans will fit but not require modification of the gear selector?
Thanks in advance for your guidance.
Best,
ILOB
