I *HATE* it when that happens!
When I was a young and stupid senior in high school I borrowed my boyfriend's car one afternoon while he was at work (Ford dealership), a Really sleek Mercury, BLACK of course, and went to do errands.
While I was gone a Violent Montana hail storm laid waste to the entire town and several towns around and all cars in every car lot therein. Except my boyfriend's car which I had elsewhere at the time, and although the car got wet, no hail. He was Very glad I had it out of town.
Soon after that a client came into that very Ford dealership looking for a car, Any car without hail damage, and my boyfriend, smelling money, sold his car. For quite a lot of money it's true, but still he sold it.
Our relationship didn't last very long after that.
