Series 3 XJ6 86 CR
Hi all, MTD here.
for awhile now I've been a lurker on these forums. I generally don't participate in forums that much. I finally decided to ask for help. I've rebuilt the title car from the carcass of an 86 and the engine and drive of a 83. I've been learning all kinds of things about Lucas electric... I won't go into a tirade I promise.
Anyway, I'm in Columbus OH and almost done with my rebuild. I've become fairly familiar with the wiring code and conventions now... Scary thought.
However, my engine is idling rough, and I'm a bit nervous that I may have miswired my engine. I'll be posting my problem in the relevant subsection... As soon as I figure out which one that is. I got the engine from a previous owner who kind of butchered the wiring. I've cleaned most of that up by now. However, none of the wires are the right color for my ignition relay systems. Anyone that can advise me, once I post... The help will be appreciated. Here are a few project photos.
A terrible photo of the dirty car.

Welcome to the forum Montana Dan,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-i-ii-iii-16/ to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region. The reason we ask for Location is because Jaguar specifications vary across different World markets. Please change Hinterlands, Antarctica.
Enjoy the forums and good luck finishing your project.
