Snow Cat: hi from Ottawa Canada
Just brought home a black 1989 xj6 VDP. It sure is finicky, but it's lovely.
It's amazing what a head-turner it is.
It needs some tlc for sure, door locks being funny, could use a new exhaust system, new hydraulics for the hood, and some serious detailing, but nothing more than I was expecting really.
Any and all advice welcome.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJ40 tech section so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link Canada - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your country.

This forums is a real gem.
I'm not going to lie, it's a bit intimidating buying one of these cars and knowing full well that the problems could be very complicated and invariably costly.
I've tried to read up though, because I've wanted this particular car for a long time, ever since I first saw one as a kid.
Thanks in advance for all the advice I know I'll need!
