Soon to be member.
In the process of purchasing a 2006 XJR. Higher mileage than I was looking for (98,000) but price was good. The owner is having a couple cosmetic issues fixed. Should be ready for final inspection Thursday or Friday.
This will be my big car. Like the back seat compared to my SWB A8. Been admiring Jags since I was a kid. One cousin has a couple, 70's XKE's. I want a more reliable driver. No 40 year old cars.
I have an awesome support net, honest, and reasonable people that do wrenching, painting, and auto stereo. Couple drivers are not playing. Suspect they are blown.
I also do light work myself. Was a maintenance manager for a while. Plus been working on cars since started driving in 1971.
The Audiworld forum has been such a help with my A8, came here before taking delivery. Have a VAG-COM for the Audi, I see the equilibrium for the Jaguar is a BSS.
With almost a 100,000 miles my plans.
1. Do an oil change to Mobil 1 euro 0-40.
2. Fix the stereo for the kids.
3. Change the cabin filter and air filter.
4. Change the transmission filter and however much drains, 5-6 liters of Lifeguard 6.
5. Look at the A arm bushings, do an alignment to check for wear.
6. Spark plugs, read the write up.
7. Flush the differential.
8. Turn the rotors and install new pads, small grooves now.
9. Change the SC belt and oil.
10. Fuel filter
11. Replace the seperator valve, (PCV)
I did all this on my 2005 A8 after purchase and it has pretty much been trouble free in 12,000 miles and a year. I have other vehicles so sitting somewhere while being serviced is not a big deal. Sometimes a ride around the house is the biggest issue
Live south of Houson and an electrical engineer. Love warm weather.

Welcome to the forum Panelhead,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Your work plan for the XJR is similar to the maintenance I do on a new (to me) Jaguar. It catches up on anything that may have been missed in previous servicing and gives a baseline for future routine maintenance.
I can see you've already found your way to the X350 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-southwest-az-tx-nm-ok-37/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Well I took delivery last week. Got a few issues in the first day.
1. After two days the belt would chirp a little when the engine was cold. Go away after a couple minutes. Sprayed with belt dressing and now it squeals continuously.
2. Daughter drove it and she passed me as I was walking. Could hear a little rattling. Suspect sway bar related. Cannot hear inside with windows up.
3. Wife likes driving it. A positive.

Been six weeks
Had the oil change, the belts, roller, and tensioner. Tranny flush and filer, power steering flush, and differential. Turned the rotors and new pads. Did the filters and installed a AAP mat battery.
Left at a stereo shop for a week and they replaced the door speakers, and subs in the rear deck. The door speakers were blown. The 6 1/2" woofers do not kick even after replacement.
The trunk is full; rear toe adjuster links, rear upper and lower control arms, front upper arms, bushings (3) for front lower arms. The front lower curved arms look recent. The front and rear sway bars links, outer tie rods ends, and sway bar bushings are in there also. Hopefully it will ride like a new car once all these go it.
I will flush supercharger, replace fuel filter, and check bolts for shifter cable prior to taking it in for suspension work. And maybe flush brake fluid.
The car is a joy to drive now. Plan on dropping 12 mm front and rear with a Mongoose prior to alignment. Then MAYBE I will fight the new spark plugs.
Got
Plenty to keep me busy.
