Default Springtime in Vermont...

... means I can finally get my Jag on the road! Purchased for $2200 over the winter I've never owned a Jag and have a lot to learn, but I've always wanted this exact car so I could not resist for that price. 98k miles, 1986 XJ6 series III Vanden Plas. Runs and rides like a dream, from what little I've looked into it looks as though the previous owner replaced the ignition (which appears a common problem in these cars?), and someone attempted some pretty amateurish body work on some rusty parts. Heater didn't work too great on the ride home and some empty liquid radiator repair bottles in the trunk suggest I have a bad radiator, other than that no major issues, I'm taking it to a guy who at least advertises that he knows what he's doing, we'll see.... Oh yeah, also the directional is very finicky.

Have big plans for my new toy, and with so little knowledge I may be a regular here! I'll post some pics when I can find 'em.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin

It's a Jaguar - not too much is obvious!

Welcome to the forum wildblueyonder,

I'm going backwards here - answered your question first and then got to your Intro.

Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ6 Series III section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You may also like to visit the US North East Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/north-east-us-me-nh-vt-ma-ri-ct-nj-ny-pa-35/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.
