STR here I come!
Hi Jag fans!
I've been an S Type Jaguar Sport (2.7D Euro4) 'owner' since 2006, when I was lucky enough to choose BN06 *** as my lease car, which I bought for £18k when I left my employer at the end of 2007.
I'd previously 'owned' a 2001 3.0l S Type with manual gearbox, which was awful, but thank goodness I didn't give up on the S Type, and having had a nice XJ (X350) 3.5 V8 on lease for ~18 months, I decided to give the S Type another try.
What a great decision! - My battle scarred 'BN06 Bolide' remains in the family, now with ~85k personal miles on the clock and I still love it to bits, but have finally decided I want something faster........So, having looked around a lot for about 3 months, struggling to track down a good late model STR, I almost bought a Merc. E55, with it's beautiful, hand built Lysholm compressor equipped 5.4 V8 engine, however I didn't succumb to German technology - thank God!
Instead I've found a gorgeous BL07 *** plated low mileage STR, about which I hope to share my experiences in the next few months and years.
To start me on my way, can a knowledgeable member tell me how many face-lifted STRs were built and is there an easy way to decipher from the VIN, exactly when my car was built?
Cheers,
Lysholm
