Default Thanks for Being.

Just found this forum and it has been a great help. We have just acquired a nearly new condition XK8, convertible, charcoal Dayton wire wheels. Also have a 2000 S-Type, meteor silver, also with Dayton wires. Before that we had a red XK-150 FHC, but that one is now being re-stored by our son.

This forum has been helpful with a few problems with our latest, the XK8, specifically, the "Poor Vehicle Performance" warning -- in our case I can detect nothing wrong with the performance, the warning just comes on, usually after 1/2 hour or so, but nothing changes in the car's performance, so I just take a deep breath and keep on truckin'.

The other problem is battery drain -- the battery was flat when we bought her, but the dealer put a new one in. I measure about 250mA of current drain after everything has settled down -- lamp delays and so on -- and have traced it by pulling fuses to the Body Processor Module (Fuses 5 & 7 in the Driver Fascia box, as I recall) Seems a bit much as others have reported. My suspicion is bad electrolytics.

I am also concerned about the chain tensioners, but there is no indication of a problem -- yet. How worried should I be? How costly is a re-fit?

Enough. Thanks Again for all the help.

Welcome to the forum kefroeschner,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues and has plenty on tensioners.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Just wanted to say Thanks to you all for the welcome and to the Forum in general for all the great advice and tech info.

Even better than the great car that the Jaguar is, is the people who you share them with.

Thanks Again!
