Three failed attempts to post
Attempted three times to post an introduction of myself, but am ready to call it "quits"!!
Always says I am unauthorized!!???
Could it have been too long of an intro??
I used plain simple, correct language, what gives??
Is there some sort of Jag radar that senses I´m divided between buying a new XK convertible or a Merc SL 500, and is sabbotaging my posts!???!!

RE: Three failed attempts to post
Wow! Jaguar Forumshas psychic ability? [sm=pcwhack.gif] lol. Sorry to hear youre having problems posting jedias, but hopefully you wont be discouraged and will give us another chance. We would love to hear all about you and your search for an XK. The site had some issues several months ago that limited the length and content of many posts, but that seems to have been fixed for the most part. Not quite sure what the problem could have been, but I would encourage you to continue to try to post. Im sure everything will work out.
Have you driven both the XK and the 500? Ive heard the XK has a much better ride. Good luck with whatever you decide. And [sm=welcomesign.gif]to the forum.

RE: Three failed attempts to post
It seems my intro was too long,,,so gonna try to make a few short posts to see if I get through.....
First I live in Portugal (and ,yes, we do have Jags over here!!)
Second, amongst other cars, I´ve had an 83 Merc 300D, an 87 Toyota Supra, an 87 Merc 300SDL (only a bit smaller than the Titanic!!),also an 86 Kawasaki Ninja 600 (which I loved at the time,,,,now I love my legs more!!),,, right now, I´m down to a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD and a 2000 Merc CLK 200K( does anyone sense an inclination toward Mercedes here, or is it just me??).
So why am I in a Jag forum ??............Well...my wife just loves the new XK convertible, so I need some feedback.
Gotta keep post short........continues.......till next post.....

cont......
My wife and I have two grown "kids", one ,27 years old, working with computer graphics, the other 21 years old , still in college. Both live away from home, except on weekends, when they come home for "refills".
Yeah , almost forgot, there´s also a mother-in-law (m-i-l) living with us now. Just our luck, kids moved out, m-i-l moved in.
Like I said before, wife loves the XK, I love the fact it has only "TWO" full seats!!
I pend towards Merc SL 350 or 500 (also only Two full seats!!).
Dilema: heard too many bad things about Jags!.....things like electrical problems and mechanical...just not plain reliable!!

RE: Three failed attempts to post
Historically, Jaguar's haven't been as reliable as their German contemporaries, but if we're talking about a 2009 XK that's a different story entirely. First off, the Jaguar wins from a sex appeal perspective, hands down. The SL can't compete on looks, especially the updated one (uglier in my opinion, though I know drivetrain is much improved). The Jaguar is down on power compared to the Merc (if we're talking 550), does that matter to the wifey? Since you might end up driving it as well, what do you think. Remember there's always the XKR to solve the power dilemma. If you're buying new I wouldn't worry about reliability. One, you have a warranty to give you peace of mind and two, I highly doubt the Jag will have any more problems than the equivalent Merc, despite its reputation.
Anyways, you should test drive both and see what appeals to you most! I know it'd be a tough choice for me (I love POWAAAAA)
Here's a 2007 comparison, couldn't find a 2009 one with the updated Benz

RE: Three failed attempts to post
Thanks for the welcome,all !!
Also appreciate the nice link slipp!
Something else,,,I live in Portugal,( you know, across the pond),,,,,everyone has heard how Monaco is a tax heaven, right, well, Portugal is "TAX HELL"!!
A Jag XK costs here, around 125000.oo euros (at today´s exchange rate,, 1.38 US Dol., that is $172,500.oo US Dol., yeah, you saw right $172,500.oo US Dol!!!). That is a barrel full of money for a car with not so fine of a reputation!!
Instead of "buy two for the price of one", here it is "buy one for the price of two"!!!
The damn car better be reliable at this price!!
Heard about electrical and ,or mechanical problems!!
I would hate to see this pile of money, I mean , car, on the back of a tow truck because it broke down!!
