Talking Traded my 2001 Cadillac Deville for a 1989 XJS Convertible

Hello to all. I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA. Hopefully that will soon be considered the Mid-Atlantic region on this forum. The South Region includes too many states.

I hope the Jaguar purist on this sight will tolerate a member owning a XJS with the 5.7 LT1 & TH400. It doesn't purr like the V12 but does have a nice roar.

Herb

Welcome to the forum Herb,

We're very tolerant here - you're far from being the first with an alternative powerplant and transmission. Plenty of help and advice available in the XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section and there's even a complete rebuilt V12 engine in the 'For Sale' if you feel an irresistable urge to put the purr back!

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome Herb - Nice car! Do you know who did the conversion? And have you found a repair shop yet? You should have someone knowledgeable go over your new ride! Top Line is a little north of you in Woodbridge but very good. They may even help you with the Chevy part....lol

- Bill

You can do alot with a V8 in a XJS:
1/4 mile data
10.160 seconds
132.000 MPH trap speed

Thanks guys, you really know how to make someone feel welcome.

Bill, thanks for the heads up on Top Line. They're just up the road.
Jim, thanks for the help and the manual upgrade.

Too hot to take pictures. Maybe after the these rains come through.

Oh Bill, I'm not sure on who did the conversion. The more I look at it, the more I wonder if there was a kit at all. On the one hand it has ceramic coated headers that are also wrapped, yet there are multiple accessories that have not been hooked up.

Tomorrow, I think I'll get a Car Fax. Maybe that will help me track down some history on this vehicle. Again, thanks for the help

Herb…

Herb,

We like pics of standard Jaguars - we like pics of modded ones even better...........

(it would be difficult to imagine 12lives XJS from a description. With that scoop, I'd still argue whether the V8 is actually IN the XJS! )
