Twice as old cross eyed but aint she a beaut. Project John O
Hi all, the Missus (SWMBO) decided about a bit over a year ago to get a Mk 2 Jag, a thing of beauty she has always loved.
Anyway, she didn't want to get something that "some bloke" had not fixed right.
So she went out looked at a few finished projects, didn't find anything she liked.
Went out again a few weeks later, to look at unfinished projects, still nothing.
We went for a work trip away and she was getting itchy to have one, looked on ebay and pow. bought one sight unseen.
We were informed by someone who actually knew what to look out for, as to what to look out for. Guess what, no rust in the bad bits, bad news, rust almost everywhere else.
Bad news for me. sort of. I need to learn so much about things i only have vague ideas about it will be an absolute adventure.
Anyway... Until it is registered it will be called Project John O in memory of a great man who had a '62.
It sat at a friends factory where the engine (a ford 302) was ripped out and sat there for the first 12 months of ownership while i finished up a 1978 (ex aus military) 109" land rover.
So after far too long. Project John O came home, a bit rustier and a bit lighter.
Paint has been removed completely from the front wings bumpers off, screen out half the interior out.
Time to assess how deep the hole is.
Because there was no sticker saying what year it is, i try to track it down with the numbers.
Car no. 175020 BW
Body no. E 040146
Engine no. KG 125x (8 or 6) -8
We bought it as a '68 and I think after much research and cross checking, that looks like a '59.
Wow i thought, bonus, then started digging into the disassembly a bit more. the rust for the most part looks so easy to do. There are a few major bits and pieces. But, wow. It is in far better condition than what was thought.
Anyway. Hi all, I do hope to make this into a resto thread over time.
I only need to get it done by the time she wants children as I am told, you cant bring a baby home in the back of Land Rover or Tank in Aus. Apparently something to do with child restraints..
Pics will come when i work out how on this forum.
Anyway, Hi and all that, I'm Mark and Kathryn is SWMBO
