Two cars, but which one to choose?

Greetings! My first post here from just outside London, England.
So, I'm looking at two cars.
The first is a 2001 XJR 3.2 V8 Sport with about 46,000 miles on it. No rust, everything works as it should, no sunroof, all standard (apart from hideous rims and window tint), partial maintenance history.
The second is a 1996 XJR6 4.0 Supercharged with about 28,000 miles on it. No rust, everything works as it should, sunroof, slightly sagging headliner which would need fixing, all standard, most maintenance history.
Both are within £1000 of each other in terms of price, the XJR6 being slightly more expensive. The question is, which on paper looks like the best proposition for a good keeper? Assuming they're both pretty equal in terms of condition etc.
Would really appreciate your expert opinions. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums general_piffle,
If you want opinions, links to the advertisements is the way to do it. Are they one owner pampered vehicles or ones that have had a string of owners?
The only Jaguars that can be compared 'on paper' are new ones. A used Jaguar is a very different proposition. History is critical. For example both those vehicles have covered abnormally low mileages for UK vehicles. They should therefore have been serviced on a time elapsed (YEARLY) basis and come with a huge file of bills for work done. The MoT history would also confirm the mileage.
If you haven't already done so, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum and this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to the X308 forum forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' threads at the top of each are a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
