Welcome from Canaries

Hello from Canaries
Hello, I am Joli from Canaries.
I am long time (as long as I can imagine) Jag fan. I started to collect and fix them as a hobby and it kind of stuck with me.
My second real car and first jag was very abused XJ8 which I painfully tried to revive on entry level employee budget, but sadly failed the deeper I was.
Fast forward few years on another continent, I now have two XJSs, one XJ40 which was my mental replacement for the first love you never forget, XJ8 and finally a dream I had since i was little school girl, XKR pictured.
I joined because It will need a lot of love and I hope to find here answers I could.
I can also probably help to many of those thinking about buying and fixing older jags, as I did quite a bit work on them already and daily them. Generally to find like-minded individuals, not only all those around me discouraging me from owning THE BEST.
Thank you for letting me in!
Joliette
This is me and Zoe, enjoying what she was built for.

Hello, Joliette,
Congratulations on your Latest Jaguar!
Isn't it interesting, perhaps you have also noticed, those discouraging us and making disparaging remarks about our owning Jags, have never actually OWNED one!
I have come to the conclusion that they're just Jealous because we have such good taste and resilience.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thank you for warm welcome 🥰 and yes, i believe there is no jag owner who would then be able to not at least lust after one!
It sure is very infectious. Very similar to Land Rover (but from which I am almost cured from already).
We have with Zoe first 230km behind us and so far very happy. Writing down little quirks i need to fix while waiting for new tires. Mine are from '07. Definitely not something I want to have on, especially since i had tire related accident in my XJ40.
Our island is very popular retirement place for Britons so I definitely am getting lot of stares and thumbs and "jealousy" looks. She was always for me the most beautiful car in the world which at the same time is kind of practical too.

Um, Yes, Joliette, NEW tires Are your FIRST priority!
When I bought my Jag tires looked new; had Loads of good tread and still had rubber whiskers from the factory mold.
However, after Shredding one on the rear on a curve, I learned they were in fact TEN YEARS OLD!!
You do NOT want this experience!!

I had this experience in my XJ40 and yes I do not want it anymore. Appointment right tomorrow morning!
Was driving around 80kmh in a curve. Had still R390 wheels on back then and could not find tires for it, so was procrastinating getting a new one. Rear one exploded on me, it rotated me around and threw me in a ditch. Lucky there was none driving towards me or it didn't happen on mountain road few 100 meters back.
The side impact was so strong it even dislocated both tires on the left side.
But Jaaag is fine now, fixed, got new JRW 16" wheels and is happy.
