Well, hello there

Well, hello there
This will be a long introduction but tomorrow I will be the owner of the first Jaguar of anyone in my family, or that I have ever known for that matter. Read on if you would like to read a story Before this last weekend, my knowledge of Jaguar was that they are british cars similar to aston martins, but the majority of my lifetime they have been owned by Ford and at some point a company called Tata that may also manufactured trains? I only knew this from a friend of mine that has sold land rovers for decades and has told me plenty about it and how he feels about it all.
So to my surprise, when looking around for an affordable, comfortable and fun convertible for my wife we happened across the old XK8, a 2006 we were going to buy last Saturday. Well it sold as we were leaving the house to make the 2 hour drive, but I noticed an XKR coupe for sell about 10 minutes from home and we decided to drive it to see how these cars feel, as comfort is our number 1 priority nowadays when purchasing vehicles.
I know now that this 4.0 v8 motor was manufactured with nikasil lines that corrode and plastic timing belt tensioners that must be replaced to metallic, and I am currently trying to get that figured out if it's been done on this car, but honestly we were so blown away with how comfortable this car is that at this point I will have the work done for the small price these cars require to take ownership. I have driven all of the assembly line sports cars like Porsche, corvettes, e.t.c and this XKR is as comfortable as the most comfortable car I have ever driven, and that was a 1970's oldsmobile muscle car, maybe a cutlass I can't remember, with leather seats like our living room couch.
So that was nice, and then my wife asks me "what does this S button do?" So at the next stop before the highway on ramp I push it just to see if it was the ejector seat (i would have felt terrible if that were the case as this is suppose to be a car for my wife lol) and with open road in front of me I feather the throttle to the floor and am now blown away with how much power is unleashed. The Jaguar transforms from a weekend cruiser to a furious feline in pursuit of dinner with the simple press of a button. I can not believe I didn't know about these cars sooner, and I equally can not believe these are not as popular as their competitors to the market.
So with that novel I conclude, I hope the Jaguar community can welcome me as I have a new found respect for these masterfully engineered machines and look forward to all of the advice and wisdom I can soak in from here!

Here it is after the test drive and before going back into showroom before delivery, what a subtle beauty.

I bought another one, and I think I am still a new member so can update this intro!? It turns out the week after I bought my XKR, a local fellow put his XK8 convertible up for sale that he bought in 2002, but I just noticed it last Thursday when I took a different route home that I usually avoid.
So my wife now has a convertible like she has been wanting for years.
This will be a fun project! It will get a driver seat rebuild next week courtesy of the seller, and an adamesh or similar exhaust courtesy of me after I find her a set of 18" wheels and various worn interior replacements.
