Default West Norfolk - UK

I dont currently have a Jag but hope to soon. XK8? I have to sell my 2007 Bavaria 37 yacht first here in the UK. I only joined as I did some freelance design work for Jaguar in about 1990, namely the underbody X struts on the XJS which improved the torsional stiffness considerably - see thread struts wanted where I have posted some pics yesterday. Used to own a 3.6 Daimler XJ6.

Currently running a Vauxhall carlton diamond 3.0 24v estate. Quite a rare car in the UK, and a Rover 75 diesel estate with the BMW diesel engine.

Hobbies - cars, sailing, walking and supporting the wife.

I'm an automotive design engineer and have worked all over the world for numerous companies on cars, buses and trucks. Semi retired now.

Welcome to the forum man of kent,

Great Intro and posts on the struts.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for help, advice and information on your next Jaguar. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there has much useful information on regular issues ........ and some observations on where the designers got it wrong!

You may also like to visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the forum. Pity about needing to sell the boat to finance the Jag. But I do know that they are expensive to own.

At least no mooring fees with the Jag.

Hope it works out for you.

Welcome to this friendly Forum.
I used to own an Allied Princess ketch, a beautiful blue water boat but more expensive to run than a top class courtesan - and probably less fun.
I'm sure you'll find a Jaguar more economical.

A bit off Jaguar subject but had a Celestial 48 ketch in the Caribbean for 3 UK winters.

I was based in St Marteen. Hook in the French side of the lagoon.
Lived on the boat a lot of 2001 - 2004 when I wasn't working.
I had a bad time in the USVI with 'reverse discrimination' but I love the Caribbean and its people.
This Forum specialises in going OT, one of its many delights.

I just missed you. I bought the Celestial in BVI in June 2004 started south afetr a refit. Got to St Marteen Jan 2005. Spent some time in the sailors bar on the Dutch side. cannot remember the name. All the yachties went there. Over the next two years went south to grenada and then venezuela (dangerous for sailors). Then headed back to the USVI and BVI where I sold the boat.

I've now a Bavaria 37 here in the UK for sale - www.apolloduck ID 222360 if you know anybody looking. Dont want to commit to a jag yet until sold or swopped for a motorhome although I would swop for a Jag plus cash.

Regards
Keith

Welcome man of kent, I live just outside Kings Lynn, so we're within a few miles of each other. Good luck with selling your yacht and buying an XK8. If you would like to meet up anytime just let me know.

We were actually there at the same time, I looked for a pic and found I sold her in 2005.
Here she is with what you'll recognise as the 'Witch's Tit' hill in the background.

I recognise it well. Interesting name! Nice looking seagoing boat you had. Attached is La Adventuress which I understand is incorrect French but I didn't name it.

We had our fastest ever sail from BVI to St Martin at night averaging 9 knots on a beam reach with everything up in 25 knots of wind. Wife would not let me go on deck to reef the main so we just spilled wind and didn't slow down.

Oh to be in the Caribbean now! B....y freezing here. Minus 10C at night.

Sailed to the outer hebrides from kent a couple of years ago with the bavaria 37. Good solid boat.

Hi Bob. When the boat is sold I'll be in contact. I will need some tips on what to look for in the way of problems.
