What ho!!
New member, jag owner since 2007. Had a sorely missed XJR6, high mileage, thought it would be OK as there was extended paperwork with the car. But a succession of relatively small but expensive repairs as well as preventative maintenance culminated in the supercharger failing, with the fragmented parts and shavings being sucked into the engine.
Only a donkey hurts his head twice against the same stone .. so I bought a 1999 with the V8. Unfortunately the cam chain rollers had not been done so I had to get that done under my stewardship and shortly after that the original tranny failed, got that replaced with the Merc unit.
So ...... fingers crossed, I want no more repairs for the next year or two ;-)

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps!
I think the sooner one comes to grip with the fact that these jags, in particular the XJRs, are pedigree cars, with limited production numbers, with high performance and often unique to the model parts, the better. You are essentially running an exotic, without the exotic entrance fee. The maintenance fee will run very close to that of an exotic like a maserati or ferrari however.
At least at my entry point depreciation no longer is an issue ;-)
