Windshield defrost not blowing air on the windshield!
Default Windshield defrost not blowing air on the windshield!I live in London, UK and have just bought a 2007 Jaguar X Type V 6 Sport which has only done 32,000. It is in excellent condition. The car belonged to a dear friend who was the only owner and looked after the car well. I am not good with technology and there are too many buttons to get used to.
Last Sunday there was torrential rain in London and the car misted very badly and I tried pressing all the Defrosting/demisting buttons but no air blowing on the windshield. It blew from all the other vents. It seems like there should be some sort of flap that is suppose to divert the air and its not doing it. All other vents work fine except the defrost.
A friendly garage had a quick look through his computer checker and there doesn't seem to be any problem but no air from the windscreen vent. He has suggested that he will check the Air Conditioning gas and then try all the defrosting buttons.
Any ideas? Many thanks

Welcome to the forums Sunil,
Quite right - there is 'some sort of flap that is supposed to divert the air'. The 'flaps' are known as 'distribution doors' in Jaguar-speak and have have tiny servo motors which move them in response to dash control selection. I suspect one of the doors is stuck or its servo motor has failed.

Dear Enthusiasts
My car is – X Type 4 Dr Sal 2.5 V6 FWD
I need help.
I had written earlier that my 'Windshield defrost not blowing air on the windshield!'
My mechanic tried to figure it but in the end he decided to take it to the Jaguar dealership. The diagnosis is as follows: -
“Carried out Diagnostics checks and found Heater Box Flap seized. New heater box required. This part is unavailable to purchase as it has been Discontinued”
Can anyone help. Is there a Jaguar broker yard where I could get this Heater Box – winter is approaching and I will need air on my windscreen.
Many thanks
Sunil

Sunil,
The heater flap is likely to be stuck because the Stepper Motor or Door Actuator that moves it has failed. Replacing the entire Blower Unit is not only going to be very expensive in labour, it is also probably unnecessary.
However, there is one listed on ebay UK:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264967830...IAAOSw8DNfzkLA
Check carefully that it fits your vehicle specification. The A/C and non A/C types are different.
