Default Dreamer

I seem to be a glutton for misery with unreliable vehicles, with a terrible need for a XJS V-12.
It is similar to the Lemmings running to the sea.

My first Jaguar was a 2003 S-Type V6 owned for about a month, it ran good for about a week, thousands of dollars in repairs, then traded it for a 2010 Mustang after smelling "maple syrup" (coolant) in the cabin. which I promptly upgraded the suspension to make it "handle" better (solid rear axles can only go so far). Living near Boston, the Mustang's lowered suspension was not fit for the rough roads, only spilling my coffee in the morning.

After the Ford dealer damaged the body while in the shop, I traded the Mustang and the backup vehicle (2003 Dakota Quad Cab with Flowmaster exhaust) for a nice reliable fuel efficient Nissan.

A friend sold me a 2003 Mercedes AMG ML55 which was nice, but kept needing more repairs for which would be better for a seasoned mechanical professional.

There is an internal drive to constantly improve the performance, handling, reliability and customizing of all my personal & friends vehicles.

Always wanted to be a car designer growing up, even so far to get an Industrial Design degree, worked in Tool & Die machine shops, had the opportunity to work with manufacturing OEM Ford, GM, Chrysler & Bosch parts.

So here I am trying to remind myself to save the misery, grief and financial burden of these cars.

Project vehicles:
1981 VW Scirroco
1984 Rabbit GTI (2 - one with red interior, one with blue)
1974 VW Beetle
1986.5 Nissan Hard body truck
1995 Nissan Hard body truck
1972 Datsun 610
1989 Firebird Formula WS6 (305 TPI) - Great
1988 Firebird Formula WS6 (350 TPI) - Headaches
1963 Studebaker Avanti R1
2010 Mustang - Steeda and Ford Racing suspension.
2003 ML55 Mercedes AMG SUV
1987 & 1988 Acura Integras
Boats:
1984 Glastron 454 16.5 ft bow rider (Engine was half a Ford 460v8) 60 knots on smooth water.
1967 Seasprite 33 hp Johnson Seahorse

Model T

63 Avanti

Celica parts

AMG ML 55

1973 Checker Marathon

03 S-Type V6

2003 Toyota Celica GTS

89 Formula

The "Divorce Car" 1969 Falcon

Welcome.

Might pay to mention you have a 2003 S Type. 6 or 8, or even an R, dunno.

The S Type Tech area will assist when and if needed.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Sirphilo,

Is there another Jaguar on the horizon?

Default Tempted by a 92 XJS Convertible

I was tempted to get a 92 XJS convertible... But concerned about why it was so cheap and still for sale for so long...

Probably the most complex Jaguar model to repair if there's rust issues ......

I could see surface rust, haven't looked at it in person. Not running for 8 years is frightening too.

XJS values are rising but they are still in the price range where even light restoration is likely to cost more than buying a good or restored example.

Of course if I had the storage it would be home now for me to work on. It is probably worth the price in parts (which I would hate to part out).
