XJS 5.3 Convertible 1989 Alarm system
Having spent a while searching these forums as an outsider I have now taken the plunge and signed up.
My XJS 5.3 1989 is quite simply the most comfortable car to roll along country lanes out in the fresh air and sunshine. Its annual outing to Le Mans is coming up but there is one little gremlin which is a cause for concern.
The alarm system has lost the plot. It operates autonomously and spontaneously. Neither of the key fobs can elicit a response. The procedure to reset the alarm system is clear. Disconnect the battery and the alarm ECU power supply and then go into the reset procedure.
I cannot find the alarm ecu. It is supposed to be under the aerial motor in the right hand rear side of the boot compartment. There simply is no room for it there. I would be delighted if a member could throw some light as to its whereabouts and what it looks like.

Welcome Richard,
An excellent vehicle and a superb annual destination.
There's been threads on a couple of extensive XJS rebuilds recently. If you post this question directly on the XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section, I'm sure other owners will be able to give you the alarm module location.
Good luck and enjoy the trip.

Welcome to the forum.
Good to see you.
Also have a look in the FAQ section in the XJS forum.
NB, you need to be certain that your battery is 100%, these alarms seem to have a life of their own if the computer "thinks" there may be a battery problem.
Have fun at Le Mans, was out watching the Classic Car Tour of Brittany this weekend, 700+ vehicles.
