She's come up nice shinenz! What's the engine like?

Good to see another Kiwi here. I am sure there are more but they dont seem to be posting at the moment. Maybe they are all enjoying the NZ summer - such as it is. 3 overcast days and a thunderstorm.

Happy New Year enjoying your new vehicle!

Regards
Stuart

Also no shortage of rain up here in the big-smoke shinenz.

Did you track down the brake fluid smell?

I saw your post in the Auckland Jag site. Its pretty quiet there.

Yer we on tank water so kinda happy it's been raining, we almost ran out last year. Yes that other site is a bit quiet, i'm thinking of joining the club tho.... just unsure of it tho lol, i'm a tattooist so wonder if my appearance will have me welcomed with open arms lol

I had back wheel off other day, some brake fluid dripped out from wheel hub.... hmmmm, not losing much, but will need to be seen to soonish i'd say

Default Cool.

If you join I will!

I have Japanese-inspired 3/4 sleeves that sit discreetly under my suit. I have plans for further work with Adam Craft on K'Rd.

Yes - good idea to sort the brake fluid leak out - Best case, it will destroy any paint it lands on. Worst case, well...

I think the club would be useful for contacts on who can help with that sort of thing without it costing a million dollars. Also if you are into a bit of DIY, you might want to take a look at these guys if you havent already. Daimler and Jaguar Spare Parts Club

Great! I will!

I am driving an AU Ford Fairmont Ghia ('98 4L). I have had it for close to 10 years and feel like I need something else. I'm here researching the 1996-2006 Jaguar XKRs. There are some great guys here who know practically everything about them. NZ prices for the newer XKRs are still too high for me but while I research, the prices are going down.

Hello I'm tom in sydney australia, recently i gave myself a project and that was to redo the wiring schematics from series 1 to series 3 up to 1986, all in colour coding.WHY!!!? you say, well over 40 years of mechanic history--owner of an xj6 S2L,using crappy books and my doctor saying i'm restricted in moving too much for a short while, it was better than going nuts, so i'm giving it all away to anyone who wants a copy for FREE, all i ask for in exchange(no obligation) is a pic of your ride so i can put a name to the car. Please state what format document you prefer>wordDOC, DOCX or PDF,
you can email from here > tomj1711@optusnet.com.au or follow the link to view a sample > Welcome to Jag-lovers - Members Photo Viewing Page ....ty...tom

That brake fluid leak at the rear is a common problem in in older XJ6 cars and you should really go after it. It is a safety issue! The problem will almost for sure be in the caliper pots and seals. Trying to repair the system in place is impossible. ! The XJ6 workshop manual actually requires this to be done.Trust me I have been there as I had to do this to my Series 2 XJ6 last year.

Dropping the rear end completely out of the car will give easy access to the brake calipers which are adjacent to the differential. To do this you will have to take off the exhaust system from behind the front mufflers right out to the tail pipes. Also don't forget to disconnect the flexible rear brake hose and I suggest replacing it as old hoses get suspect and eventually will block up.

If you aren't good at sorting out the calipers and pistons I suggest you take these to a brake specialist for overhaul. When re-assembling do fit new pads on the hydraulic system and the handbrake.

Default Jaguar

I've actually got it in the garage today, i've had it off the road for the last 4-5 months getting paint job done, plus it's been winter here.

Here is a recent pic, tints to come then work on interior next winter.

Wow Shinenz! You will stand out in that around Pukekohe - in fact everywhere you go!!!

Have you got any more mechanical work to do?

If you have a stand at the New Plymouth Tattoo and Art Festival I might see you there.

I have a 1974 series 2 XJ12. the Daimler version. I have found the Haynes manual as good as anything.
The car is easy enough to work on, the hardest bit being to actually find the bit you want to replace.

Not to sure on motor side, as I truly do suck at that side of things, but i do have a great mechanic! It's in the garage at the mo, having everything done for a WOF, and am sure i'll get a good report back of things. he also works on our PT cruiser, so an to it fulla.

As to tat convention... i'm heading down for the Paul Booth Seminar next Friday, but coming back. real mission to have stands etc at conventions for us, we got 3 kids man! haha, enough said.

Back to jag, I have a mate who is a fabricator, stainless. Guys like my brother, am seriously thinking of taking it to him in Chch, and having full exhaust system made up, with maybe coby's or something along the lines to really bring out the Jag sound... then I might pass on option of slotting Chevy under hood

Wow Shinenz, that Jag will certainly stand out. The quality of the air-brushing looks good from this distance.

Welcome to the forum!

I have fond memories of driving my Uncle's 2500tc! I had a 13/60 Herald when I was young and always wanted a Spitfire or a Stag - and was actually looking on line at Spitfires and Stags today for fun - but Im not ready to buy one right now.

Yes shinenz got a great looking car alright! There will be no doubting who the owner is when we see his car go by.

Regards
Stuart

A bit too wild for an old guy like me but a superb piece of work.
Be interested to follow progress with your work on the interior.
